Uhh, what exactly is an ICM?
An ICM (Intwine Connectivity Module) is the Wi-Fi module in your thermostat that connects the unit to your wireless router and then communicates with Intwine’s servers so that you can control your thermostat via the web. It is a white box on the back of your thermostat, and it simply slides in and out. It also has the green blinking LED in it.
What is all this I hear about Intwine releasing an update?
What you have heard is correct. Intwine is currently in process of updating all existing ICMs, releasing a new website (www.IntwineHome.com), and smartphone apps to go along with it.
Is gointwine.com still shutting down January 1, 2012?
We have decided to extend the gointwine.com service. We will notify you when the extension will end so that you will have ample time to receive the updated ICM and install it in your thermostat.
Are you making me pay for this update?
Absolutely not!
How do I configure my new ICM that I just received in the mail to my Wi-Fi network?
Once you receive the new ICM, you will have to configure it on your Wi-Fi network before plugging it into your thermostat. It is the same configuration utility that you used to configure your current ICM when you first received it. You will need to know the SSID, security type, and encryption key for your Wi-Fi network. The configuration utility can be downloaded at https://www.gointwine.com/intwinewificonfig.exe.
Ahh! I cannot access my Intwine Thermostat at www.IntwineHome.com or www.GoIntwine.com! Does this mean my thermostat is broken?
No, absolutely not! What it does mean is that you are now unable to remotely access your Intwine Thermostat (via the web). However, the thermostat will continue to function like a standard programmable thermostat until you are able to access it remotely or physically.
I am replacing my current ICM with an updated one, what do I do with the old ICM?
If you received your new ICM in the mail, you’ll notice a USPS label comes with it. Once your new ICM is installed and configured, simply use the return label and drop it in the mail. It will be sent back to us for proper disposal.
